Right now Entity::Center School facilities are full to bursting with 64 kids of a dozen nationalities, between the ages of 4 and 14, attending 5 and sometimes 6 days a week.
Learning goes on in three languages: Tamil, French and English. These languages are also taught as second languages.
Nine teachers, including two kindergarten teachers, work more or less full time at Center School. They are helped by 8 part time teachers. The aim is to let each child use the language she or he feels most at home in as a medium for learning to read and write. Then, each child is free to choose his or her favourite language as the medium in which to study maths, history, science and geography.
It does get a bit chaotic at times, but results are getting better and better.
Judging by remarks made by visiting teachers, most of the kids at Center School seem to be up to the level expected for their age elsewhere in the world.
The morning hours (8:30 to 12) are devoted primarily to 'book learning'. Crafts, painting, calligraphy, music, dance, etc., are offered in the afternoon before sports at Certitude.
