You could read this firstly in Green Dreamspace, hosted by Dreamcatchers.

There should be no more residential development on the ground floor anywhere in Auroville.

This transforms all the ‘earth’ of Auroville into ‘commons’. Aurovilians can henceforth walk wherever they wish without fear of ‘trespassing’ on Auroville land which appears to ‘belong’ to someone else.

There can be no more sense of land ownership if all the residential development floats above it, and then private gardens on the ground are also no longer possible.

Each house and apartment could have a private terrace for growing those plants which the resident holds dear, and to provide the need for ‘personalised’ green space.

This step would allow for the creation of large areas of parkland in and around our residential areas, thus negating the need for people-oriented parks between the zones and freeing them up to become wildlife corridors instead.
