Ayarpadi is located in the international zone of Auroville behind Bharat Nivas, along the road towards Kottakarai. The soil is a mixture of clay and sand, and of medium quality in terms of fertility. The farmhouse is on solar energy with a submersible pump, and a drip irrigation system. The farm is one of the main milk suppliers for Auroville with a sizeable herd of cows. Apart from the steward (Murthy) and his family, there are 6 permanent workers on the farm.
