Aims and Objectives
Integrated Animal Care was founded in 2005 with the following 5 point program:
- sterilization
- anti-rabies vaccination
- medical care
- adoption of unwanted puppies
- education outreach
The program is still current. IAC has so far organized and paid for (till August 2010):
- 1.000 dog sterilizations
- 500 dog anti-rabies vaccinations
- Provided medical care through either an employed vet or at Dayakara, a private animal care centre run by a Swiss couple or by calling a vet from Puducherry or bringing the animal to the Govt. hospitals or private vets, also in Puducherry.
- Numerous unwanted puppies have been adopted, cared for, giving them shelter or distributing them to interested families or single persons. These puppies are often dumped and found at the roadside in the hot sun. Since they are very often too early taken away from their mother they do not survive. Adult stray dogs are another daily reality in our bioregion, which are forced to live a miserable life..
- Currently education outreach is another daily informal thing in the interaction with people.
