Thamarai is a learning and cultural centre in Edayanchavady Village. Thamarai is the Tamil word for "lotus", taken as a symbol of the emergence of the women, children and families of the village.

Thamarai was established in June 2006 as a project of the Auroville Village Action Group (AVAG) under the Mohanam-Svaram Trust.
