Incarnation (excerpt)

Who has perceived this truth occult
That the child gives being to the mothers?
- Rig Veda

Les jeux sont faits (the dice are thrown). Genetically they reveal and prepare in the cipher language of the baby cell’s forty-six chromosomes all the physical, vital and mental possibilities of the new being. Therein lies a body of knowledge too extensive to be contained in a thousand-volume encyclopedia. Most of it will never be developed. If, for example, the character ‘musician’ is not included in a child’s chromosome formation, he will never be able to become one. If it exists but as a recessive characteristic, it will have to be strongly stimulated in order to manifest. But if it is dominant, the slightest stimulation will awaken it.

Les jeux sont faits, but all the rest has yet to be done. Now each action, each thought, each feeling, each sensation, each aspiration of the mother calls one of these potentialities to enter, with its force of law, into the composition of the personality that is being formed. Any negative suggestion, an uneasiness even, a nightmare at this time may contribute to a mental, vital or physical manifestation. But a song of joy in the consciousness prepares the coming triumph.

During this time the mother should be protected from all threat of contamination and all disharmony, should give to the new body the maximum of well-being and deep satisfaction, concentrate all her tenderness on him who feeds exclusively on her, offer himself to him so that he may find in her and through her the most refined substance and the highest stimulation in the moulding of the innumerable facets of his personality.

The scenario

The single cell opens itself to the becoming by multiplication.

10 hours

It is already four, then eight, sixteen, then thirty-two, at an explosive rate.

6 days

A transparent nebula of a hundred and fifty cells implants itself in the wall of the uterus, and begins to relive, over a period of forty days, three billion years of earth life.

The embryo follows the way from the single-celled being to the human being in a very special manner, as if it wished to repeat the great conquests of evolution without again becoming completely involved in them.

In the course of this forty-day drama the child traverses in every essential his biological past. A consciousness of that far-away past, lived in the perspective of time, creates its opposite and complementary pole, that is, it thrusts him far into the future.

But what mother has ever consciously helped her child to make this leap into the trans-human?

Even if, in the future evolution of man, prenatal life should become extra-uterine, in vitro, we cannot leave to a substantially inconscient nature the development of the solar child. More important than physical maternity is the subtle maternity, that which invokes and creates. This maternal power arranges all the levels of being like so many nourishing placentas around the child. It permits the new being to thrust past the empty and exhausted by-paths of evolution. The child achieves an escape velocity from biogenetic inertia.

The consciousness of the mother should be supported and activated not only by that of the father, but also by the consciousness of the surrounding community, thus creating a salubrious climate of freedom in which the child =1 can not fail to flourish.

A frenetic haste characterizes the first two months of growth, when the secret triumphal march of evolution is played in a non-human rhythm of life, a rhythm, perhaps, of the primordial oceans. These are the most determining weeks, the most fatal as well as the most promising of his whole existence. At this pre-foetal stage, education, like an immense lever, should be able to realize the dream of mankind. This is the moment to conquer naturally and joyously those things which, later, would ask from the child a long discipline, or which might finally turn out to be almost impossible.

Freud and the zoopsychologists have shown us the importance of the first years of childhood, a period during which asocial tendencies and their serious complexes can become established before the child even learns to speak. However, the physical and psychological risks of damage seem to diminish with the passing of time, measured from conception, and therefore the psycho-physical environment of the prenatal period is naturally the most crucial and determinant.

While the transparent jelly of the human body is growing, the subconscious which roots it into the terrestrial consciousness grows at an even more fabulous speed. Any fear or trauma in the mother can quickly assume monstrous proportions which mount towards a serious threat to the child.

This is the time to dream happy, awakened dreams, to meditate at length and with knowledge, to create an entirely new, self-existent universe, and encyclopedia of happiness, an inner repertoire of victories without end, recycled on ever higher levels of existence. For isn’t it that which the yogis are doing for the whole of mankind: giving birth to new legends, new dreams of the future, new possibilities which are then offered to the poets, the scientists, and to those children who renew the world?

It is these dreams of the mother, conscious or obscure, which decide whether the child will belong to a race, to a religion, to a cause, whether he will belong to the past, the present or the future of the earth.
