The Zodiac

In this new era the old houses of the sun, the old constellations, acquire new significances and relationships. The zodiac has always been to man a celestial reminder of his own evolution, turning around an inner sun while progressing slowly towards a still unknown goal. In a vast spiral, mankind has been lifted out of its neolithic tribal mentality into a unitary vision of the universe and its own being. Our spirituality slowly detaches itself from its old religious framework, our sensibilities become socialised and our political outlook planetary rather than national. Our ancient symbols have lost their former compelling force, substituting for it a rich choice of opportunities, and, far from forcing us into narrow moulds or into stultifying corsets of an inexorable fate, they call us as free partners into their joyful celestial dance.

ARIES

Since Abraham's time the ram has signified

sacrifice.

But in the new age it becomes clear that we cannot sacrifice our children; we have to sacrifice ourselves, to conform to the great universal or cosmic law under which everything is self-sacrifice – from the mother suns to the electrons in a single continuous oblation. When man has learned this fact he will become free of his limitations because no such sacrifice of oneself is ever in vain.

Aries is also the symbol of springtime and the continuous joyful

renewal

of all things. “Sacrifice is the great revealer of values.” Limit not thy

offering

to “the giving up of earthly goods or the denial of some desires and yearnings, but let every thought and every work and every enjoyment be an offering to God within thee.”
