City = Civilization

In all lands and all ages, from ancient Sumer to modern America, the highest level of human mentality, initiative and achievement has always been attained in urban communities. Man's energies, until the city's bounty released them for education and intelligent advance in the arts and sciences, had been bound exclusively to the procurement of food.

Man has been man only in the city. The womb of genius, indeed of literacy itself, has been the city. Socrates, Virgil, Plato, Valmiki, Kalidasa are unthinkable in a village.

Our planet is developing towards a total urbanization. An evolutive plantary cybernetics will liberate man from any necessity for uncreative physical or mental work, and its stimulus will lead to a mutation of society and ultimately produce supra-Valmikis, supra-Einsteins in the city =1, the city with a different consciousness.
