The city: A problem of systems management

It is not only a king or a dictator or a political power that can build a city. Sheer economic power can do it also. How many towns have been built by mining and industrial companies? In both cases the city is a part of a larger system, either a political system like a nation, or an industrial system.

But it is conceivable that a city could construct its own system, build itself and manage its own economy. City building is a problem of systems management. In the same way as one solves the problem of sending a man to the moon, one can solve the problem of how 50,000 people can live together harmoniously , of how they can be fed, clothed, educated and amused, how they can be given whatever they need in order to become really themselves and enrich the life of the city, and finally how they may be helped to transform themselves into =1 citizens. If a society really applies its intelligence to solving its own problems, there is none which cannot be solved. All problems are at bottom problems of systems management. Not only the arrival of 50,000 inhabitants, but the arrival of each single one should be anticipated by an =1 city. In other towns you buy a piece of real estate and sooner or later you are connected to the municipal services. But as soon as you arrive in the =1 city everything is there to welcome you, already organized for your needs. It is much the same as for an interplanetary trip: everything is calculated in advance, not only the functioning of the satellite and its trajectory but also its interior atmosphere and every item which will be needed by each astronaut and each passenger.

When you enter an =1 city it is as if you entered an invisible space ship. There is nothing which you will need, from the cradle to old age, that is not provided by you, which has not been foreseen and planned for you. Beginning with your education and your employment, it will help you to find your own place, your true role in its life, and all the time it will provide you with the best possible environment for your conscious evolution, and the necessary stimulation for your integral progress.
