(Peter Heehs:) “In the beginning of 1903, not long after the Ahmedabad Congress, Aurobindo sent Barin to Calcutta to help Jatin Banerji in the work of revolutionary recruitment and organization. Before dispatching the young man on his mission, Aurobindo initiated him into Thakur Saheb's secret society. Holding a copy of the Gita in one hand and a sword in the other, Barin recited a Sanskrit sloka, pledging himself to fight for India's freedom as long as there was life in his body.”[1]
