The school in Fertile community started some 4 to 5 years ago with a group of adolescent children requesting some adult assistance and occasional tuition in various subjects of their own enquiry.
The Entity::Fertile School has since grown to include around 10 children varying in age from 9 to 18 years. They come together 5 days a week of their own volition to participate in a process of developing what one could call a kids' access center rather than a school.
The subjects are continuously evolving and have thus included regular mathematical exercises and natural science. Less structured language studies are offered in English, Tamil and French but the emphasis is on continuous investigation, guide self discovery within specifically designed environments.
The center at present provides the children with a main meeting room and a carpentry workshop. A pottery and a silk screen workshop are under construction.
Numerous applications for books, tapes, equipment are constantly submitted and there is a steady stream of responses.
